We Have Something In Common, Akpabio Tells Davido

President Bola Tinubu’s government has something in common with the Nigerian music industry - both cater for Nigerians across party lines! That was the message of the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio to Davido, the Afrobeat Star, who paid him a courtesy visit on May 19, 2024. Akpabio told the music star, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke: "For me and for the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, its an inclusive administration, and you must have noticed in my various outings, we move as one, across party lines. "Even though your administration is a PDP one but we work across party lines for the interest of Nigeria. The only major thing that is common to all of us is the interest of this country and it is a country that has given you so much love”. While advising Davido to avoid being dragged into politics, he promised that the lawmakers will do everything possible to support the talent industry. "Please do your best to continue to maintain the high e...

I don’t Have a Kobo to Feed - Shan George

After years of hardwork, veteran actress Shan George doesn’t have even a kobo to feed with, anymore. Her floodlike tears  for help came after she opened her flanks for a fraudster.

The Nollywood actress, in a video posted on her official Instagram page on Saturday, May 4, 2024, said she  had nothing left to feed her children.

“Nigerians please help me. Someone called Cecilia just cleared all the N3.6 million in my Zenith Bank account into her Opay. I’m now koboless. I have nothing to eat with my children, the worst part, is today, Saturday, I can’t go to the bank to complain, she said.

How Cecilia Chisgoziem Okoro was able to access the qctress’s account is not clear. If only Shan George had used all that money to buy garri or fufu, at least she would eat from there.

“I need help cos I’m dying. This person has just cleared my account. Pls my people, everyone pls help. Pls Zenith Bank, reverse it. I can’t access my app. I’m Dead, Oga Jim Ovia.”

For now, she feeds on tears, while the fraudster smiles to the bank.

FEMI ADESINA AT UYO BOOK CLUB!

It was an exciting evening of literati on April 27, 2024, when Mr Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s former Spokesman, read sections of his new book, ‘Working with Buhari’, at Uyo Book Club.  I’m glad I was there! Writen in Adesina’s traditional simple style, the book is a distillation and documentation of some “soft” moments  and events that happened during his sojourn in Aso Rock. Adesina was the pioneer editor of Daily Sun newspaper. Infact, he was the one who interviewed me in 2003, when I went to the Sun Publishing Company for a job. He took one look at me and said: “Usoro, we are not really going to interview you. We know you, already. Just go and bring some of your published articles”.  As I left his office that day, I met Mr Steve Nwosu, another wonderful editor, humourist and friend. “What are you doing here”, he asked me, smiling. When I told him I was looking for a job, he said: “I want you to come and work with me. I want you to be my deputy. Let me go...

Want Peaceful Marriage? Then, Buy TV Without Remote

Here’s a candid expo to young men about to get married. Okay, those who have just married can also benefit from it. Free of charge! Like one dubious mechanic would say, I won’t charge o. Just remember to ask for my account details, later. Here it goes: “The secret to a good marriage is to be a little deaf!" If you doubt me, ask Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Add dumb and blind, as well, if you may! Oh, relax, young man! This is not meant to scare you.  Marriage is actually enjoyable. There are some immense benefits for you too, as a man. For instance, you stand a better chance of taking new pictures in starched attires every Sunday, after service.  That is, if you are a Christian. And, trust me, you can now use the toilet and leave it for her to flush, especially if she calls you “baby”! In fact, you are even guaranteed a free smiling session in each snap.  Rest assured that your wife will be on hand to remind you to “smile” so you don't spoil her picture. Even if you aren't the ch...
